Business Analyst
Your Responsibilities
Intraday Risk Monitoring
- Lead the end-to-end delivery of the Intraday Risk Limit Monitoring framework within the GM IT Risk systems, from requirements gathering to production rollout.
- Act as the primary liaison between the GM IT development teams and the Drive transversal project-management team.
- Produce and maintain artefacts such as functional specifications, user stories and test plans.
- Contribute to validation and sign-off for deliveries ahead of a production release.
- Provide regular status reporting (RAG updates, risk registers, issue logs) to senior stakeholders.
BAU Enhancements
- Provide occasional BAU assistance for the Credit, Flow-Rates and Repo-Financing desks, including minor enhancements and defect resolution.
- Collaborate with the GM IT Risk development teams to prioritize and schedule BAU tickets accordingly.
Risk BA Support Rota
- Participate in the Risk BA Support rota (≈ 1 week every 2 months).
- Respond to user queries about the GM IT Risk platform or pass onto relevant APS/IT teams.
- Capture new functional requirements and flag upcoming project opportunities.
Cross-Functional & Governance
- Ensure compliance with internal risk-management policies and external regulatory standards.
- Contribute to continuous-improvement initiatives (process optimisation, documentation standards).
Knowledge and experience
As a Business Analyst:
- Provide numerical, functional and technical business analysis for IT projects within Risk and PnL.
- Act as a subject matter expert – taking a leading role where detailed business knowledge is required
- Be an active part of the delivery team and use your experience to improve the chance of projects succeeding.
- Act as a bridge between the development teams, the users and other teams such as Quant Research, Middle Office, Risk Management and APS.
- Where appropriate, help with implementation by developing in Python and other data specific tools and languages.
As a Project Manager:
- Provide project management for specific projects - either managing just the Risk and PnL contribution or the overall project as requested.
- Ensure projects are well tracked against milestones and that progress is clearly communicated.
- Ensure any risks and issues are communicated early and clearly and mitigated where possible.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Act as an ambassador for the Data Solutions team – communicate clearly and build up strong working relationships within our IT teams and with external teams such as GM Quant Research, Trading and APS (application production support).
- Ensure that you understand the overall IT strategy for Risk and PnL and that you bring solutions that move towards this strategy. Avoid tactical solutions where at all possible.
- Provide 3rd line support cover when required and ensure that production quality is not compromised.
Skills
Essential
- Business Analysis including numerical investigations/analysis, technical analysis and functional analysis – Expert
- In depth understanding in at least 1 of Trading Risk, Risk Sensitivities, Value At Risk (VaR), P&L Explain (Stepped Explain and Risk Explain), Independent Price Verification (IPV), Official P&L, Stress Tests, Valuation Adjustments and Reserves, Market Data – Expert
- Ability to manage a project – Proficient
- Numerical and functional testing – Expert
- Communication within IT and to the Business/Quants, Middle Office, Risk and Finance – Expert
- Functional knowledge of Global Markets products – Proficient in most areas, Expert in at least one (Credit, FX, Rates)
- Understanding of typical Investment Banking architecture including Trade Booking, Market Data, Risk Generation, Aggregation and Reporting, Risk Management and so on – Proficient
Preferred
- Development in data specific languages/tools (ideally Python) – Intermediate
- Understanding of how Risk and P&L works – Proficient
- Understanding of IT Systems at a functional level – Proficient
