Data Architect (Consulting)

Duration: Likely initial 3 - 6 month with long-term engagement opportunities

Rate: £750 - £850 pd Inside IR35 via umbrella

Location: London - Hybrid

We’re looking for experienced Data Architects who can operate at both a strategic and hands-on level, helping clients shape, design, and deliver modern data architectures in complex environments.

What you’ll be doing:

Working as a trusted advisor to clients, you’ll:

• Design and define enterprise data architectures (data platforms, data models, integration patterns)
• Create target state data architectures aligned to business and technology strategy
• Establish and mobilise data architecture capabilities and functions
• Implement data governance frameworks, standards, and tooling (e.g. metadata, lineage, quality)
• Define and embed data principles, patterns, and reusable templates
• Translate data and technology roadmaps into clear business outcomes
• Shape data operating models to enable scalable, data-driven organisations
• Navigate ambiguity, often working where data strategy or platforms are not yet defined
• Engage senior stakeholders (C-suite, Director level), influencing data-led decision making

What we’re looking for:

• Strong experience designing modern data platforms (cloud, lakehouse, warehousing, integration)
• Proven ability to balance strategy and delivery within a consulting environment
• Experience with data governance, modelling, and architecture frameworks
• Excellent communication skills (able to simplify complex data concepts)
• Strong storytelling and presentation skills
