We're working with a secure-sector organisation looking to bring in a Subject Matter Expert within Identity and Access Management (IdAM). This individual will play a lead role in shaping and delivering secure, scalable access controls across a Microsoft-centric environment, with a strong focus on federation, authentication, and privilege governance.
You'll be expected to bring hands-on experience working with enterprise-scale Microsoft identity technologies, particularly federation services (ADFS), traditional Active Directory environments, and SAML-based authentication frameworks. Experience with layered access structures (Tiered Access Models), Zero Trust principles, and multi-factor authentication (especially on-premise deployments) will be valuable in this role.
What You'll Be Doing
-
Define and evolve standards and guardrails around IdAM architecture and access security.
-
Lead end-to-end deployment and configuration of user access control platforms, including provisioning, de-provisioning, and synchronisation workflows.
-
Design and build secure authentication flows integrating on-prem and cloud platforms, using protocols such as SAML, OAuth and LDAP.
-
Work closely with internal stakeholders to embed principles of least privilege, role-based access control and strong authentication across the enterprise.
-
Integrate ADFS and Active Directory with third-party identity solutions and internal platforms to streamline login and authorisation processes.
-
Produce high-quality technical documentation including design diagrams, configuration instructions, and support guides.
What You'll Need
Essential experience:
-
Strong grasp of Microsoft Active Directory and Federation Services (ADFS)
-
In-depth understanding of Multi-Factor Authentication principles and implementation
-
Familiarity with structured access approaches (eg tiered admin models)
-
Real-world experience with SAML authentication flows
Nice to have:
-
Exposure to Privileged Access Management (PAM) tooling and methodologies
-
Knowledge of Identity Governance & Administration platforms (IGA)
-
Awareness of current security practices in relation to IdAM
-
Strong communication skills and confidence engaging across technical and non-technical teams
