VMware Automation Engineer (x2) - Aria | Orchestration | Scripting | GitLab

• Day Rate - £500
• Location - Farnborough (Hybrid)
• iR35 determination - Outside
• Duration - 6 months initial

We're working with a secure-sector programme undergoing a large-scale infrastructure transformation. As part of this, we're looking to bring in two experienced VMware Automation Engineers to help design and implement complex workflows that support rapid, repeatable deployment of services across a multi-tenant private cloud.

This is a hybrid role based in Farnborough, Due to the nature of the work, active SC clearance is essential.

What You'll Be Doing

• Building and maintaining advanced automation pipelines using VMware Aria (formerly vRealize) suite - particularly Aria Automation and Orchestrator

• Designing, developing, and managing complex workflows to automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration, and life cycle management

• Supporting the integration of infrastructure automation into wider CI/CD pipelines, particularly within GitLab

• Writing clean, scalable code using JavaScript and Python to support orchestration logic and tooling

• Working closely with other infrastructure, security, and platform teams to ensure automation aligns with compliance and design standards

• Contributing to best practices for automation architecture, source control, and modular orchestration design

Core Skills & Experience

• Proven hands-on experience with VMware Aria Automation (formerly vRealize Automation) and Aria Orchestrator

• Strong understanding of infrastructure orchestration, including designing and managing complex workflows

• Programming/Scripting proficiency in JavaScript and Python

• Familiarity with source control management, particularly GitLab

• Solid grasp of CI/CD concepts and integrating automation into pipeline-driven deployments

• Good understanding of virtualisation and infrastructure components, ideally in secure or regulated environments

Desirable Skills

• Exposure to Rundeck or other orchestration platforms

• Knowledge of secure infrastructure principles and Secure by Design methodologies

• Experience working within multi-tenant environments or service provider models
