Sales Executive
At giles, we are changing how researchers and scientists discover and interpret evidence. We are looking for a relentless Sales Executive who wants to own the full sales cycle, from cold outreach to signed contract.
You will work directly with our Business Development Director, handling your own pipeline of SMB and Institutional Academic clients while supporting the wider team on major enterprise accounts.
About the Role
This is a \"Full Cycle\" sales role. You are not just setting meetings for someone else; you are running the show for your sector. You will spend 50% of your time prospecting (finding leads) and 50% of your time demoing and closing deals.
Your mission is to capture the high-volume B2B market, University Departments, Research Labs, Boutique Consultancies, and MedTech SMEs, turning our inbound interest and your outbound efforts into revenue.
Key Responsibilities
- Generate Pipeline (The \"Hunter\" Aspect): rigorous outbound prospecting (Email, LinkedIn, Phone) to identify decision-makers in Academic Departments, specialized CROs, and medical agencies.
- Own the SMB Pipeline: You will manage deals below the Enterprise threshold. You will run the discovery call, present the demo, negotiate pricing, and close the deal yourself.
- Qualify Enterprise Leads: When you uncover a \"Whale\" (e.g., a massive Pharma lead), you will qualify them and seamlessly work with the BD Director, remaining involved to learn how big deals get done.
- Master the Product: You need to become an expert on giles. You will be conducting live product demonstrations daily, showing scientists and marketeers how our AI solves their specific evidence problems.
- CRM Management: meticulous tracking of activity and deal stages in our CRM to ensure accurate forecasting.
What We're Looking For
- Proven Closing Experience: 1–3 years in B2B sales (SaaS or Medical/Scientific) where you carried a quota and closed your own deals.
- Prospecting Grit: You don't wait for leads to come to you. You are comfortable building your own lists and picking up the phone.
- Scientific Curiosity: You don't need a PhD, but you must be comfortable talking to smart people (Heads of Labs, Medical Directors) and learning their language.
- Demo Skills: You can present a software product with energy and clarity, tailoring the pitch to the person on the call.
- Startup Mindset: You are happy to roll up your sleeves. If the slide deck needs fixing or a lead needs researching, you do it.
