Senior Quality Assurance Engineer
governr · London (Hybrid, 2-3 days/week)
Senior QA Engineer
3-5 years experience · Test automation · Python · CI/CD
governr is the AI control infrastructure for regulated industries. We help organisations govern AI safely, compliantly, and at scale. As we grow, quality isn't optional. We need a Senior QA Engineer who can build and own our testing capability from the ground up. Someone who's as comfortable writing test code as they are thinking about coverage strategy.
You'll be hands-on from day one, working closely with engineers and product to make sure we ship with confidence.
What you'll do
- Design and implement a testing strategy covering functional, regression, integration and performance testing
- Build and maintain automated test frameworks in Python (pytest, unittest, Playwright or API-level tools) integrated into CI/CD pipelines
- Validate data integrity and behaviour in PostgreSQL: write SQL to verify CRUD operations, schema changes, migrations and performance characteristics
- Manage the defect lifecycle: triage, prioritise, track and report issues through to resolution with thorough root cause analysis
- Establish and monitor QA metrics (defect rates, test coverage, escaped defects, release quality) and report status and risks to stakeholders
- Support shift-left practices, code reviews and quality gates within CI/CD
- Contribute to continuous improvement of release processes, test data management and automation coverage
What we're looking for
- 3 to 5 years in a hands-on QA or test automation role
- Strong Python skills and experience writing and maintaining automated test suites
- Playwright experience is required, with Cypress a plus
- Comfortable writing SQL to validate data behaviour in PostgreSQL
- Experience working in agile environments with fast-moving development teams
- Fintech or financial services experience is a plus
- Clear communicator who flags issues early and keeps stakeholders informed
- Comfortable using AI tools to support your work. We actively encourage it
Nice to have
- Experience in cloud-hosted environments for FastAPI/Postgres apps (AWS, Azure or GCP) and with containers (Docker)
- Experience with performance and load testing tools such as Locust, JMeter or k6
- Knowledge of security testing practices for web APIs and databases (input validation, SQL injection prevention, auth checks)
Why governr
You'll own quality from the start, with full backing to build it properly. You'll have direct access to the founders and a real say in how we work. Competitive salary and benefits. Hybrid working, 2 to 3 days a week in our London office.
If you want to build something that lasts rather than inherit someone else's shortcuts, this is the role.
