Hybrid Connectivity Architect - 6 Month Contract
Overview
We are looking for an experienced Hybrid Connectivity Architect to lead the design of a future state hybrid connectivity architecture. This role is focused purely on architecture and design, taking the organisation from the current CCB and Security Boundary based setup to a simpler, more strategic model deployed in appropriate locations.
The role is aligned to an agreed business case and existing documentation, and deliberately separates design from delivery and operational ownership at this stage to avoid unnecessary complexity and decision bottlenecks.
Key Responsibilities
Own and lead the end to end design of the hybrid connectivity architecture
Assess the current CCB and security boundary environment and define a clear target state
Produce pragmatic, secure, and scalable designs that simplify the existing landscape
Ensure designs align with strategic locations, security principles, and enterprise standards
Work closely with internal stakeholders to validate requirements and design assumptions
Produce high quality architecture documentation, diagrams, and design artefacts
Clearly articulate design decisions, trade offs, and risks to technical and non technical audiences
During the design phase, optionally support a market engagement exercise to assess delivery and run options, whether via EICTHF, DD, or a hybrid approach
Scope and Boundaries
Primary focus is architecture and design only
Delivery, implementation, and operational support models are explicitly out of scope initially
Any involvement in partner selection or delivery approach will be advisory and design led
Required Experience and Skills
Strong experience designing hybrid connectivity and network architectures
Deep understanding of security boundaries, segmentation, and enterprise connectivity patterns
Proven ability to simplify complex Legacy environments into clear, modern target architectures
Experience working within large, complex organisations with multiple stakeholders
Strong documentation and communication skills
Ability to operate independently and make sound architectural decisions
Desirable Experience
Experience supporting market engagement or partner evaluation from an architectural perspective
Familiarity with large scale public sector or highly governed environments
Knowledge of cloud and on premises integration patterns
What This Role Offers
Clear architectural ownership with well defined scope
Opportunity to shape a strategic, long term hybrid connectivity model
Focus on design quality and decision making rather than delivery execution
Exposure to senior stakeholders and enterprise level architecture challenges
