NSX vDefend Consultant (VM WARE)
Contract Duration: New year Start - Upto 3 months
Location: Remote with occasional travel to London
Rate: £650-£700/day Inside IR35
Overview
We are seeking an experienced NSX vDefend (VMware Security Consultant) to join the Extend Expert Team (EET), working under the direction of a Prime Contractor and end customer. The role supports two key workstreams focused on the design, deployment, and operational support of VMware NSX vDefend and Advanced Threat Protection (ATP) within a large-scale enterprise environment.
Key Workstreams
Workstream 1 – Advanced Threat Protection (ATP)
- Design and deploy NSX vDefend ATP capabilities.
- Enable and configure IPS/IDS policies.
- Support testing, validation, and malware prevention tuning.
- Assist with threat assessment and advanced detection use cases.
- Support investigation activities and threat scenario development.
Workstream 2 – NSX vDefend Security Framework
- Support deployment of Distributed Firewall (DFW) across NSXi environments.
- Create, migrate, and standardise DFW policies.
- Define scalable security policy structures and operating models.
- Build and maintain security policies across:
- Common Services (Macro)
- Infrastructure (Meso)
- Applications (Micro)
- Support Identity Firewall implementation.
- Enable logging, monitoring, metrics, and platform visibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Support day-two operations for NSX vDefend environments.
- Assist with product upgrades, patching, and platform enablement.
- Develop custom dashboards and operational metrics.
- Support security investigations using attack lifecycle evidence chains.
- Work closely with technical teams to deliver secure, scalable solutions.
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong hands-on experience with VMware NSX / NSX vDefend.
- Proven experience designing and implementing enterprise network security solutions.
- Strong knowledge of DFW, micro-segmentation, IPS/IDS, and firewall policy design.
- Experience operating within complex, high-security environments.
