Senior SQL Developer
£160- £200 a day - Inside IR35 - 6 months with option to extend
Predominantly remote role, with occasional visits in Cardiff
About the role
We’re looking for a motivated and experienced SQL Developer to join the Software Applications Team within NHS, supporting key clinical systems. Very Exciting opportunity and a chance to work on a big scale transformation programme.
What will you do?
As a Senior SQL Software Developer you will join a multi-disciplinary team focused on building robust clinical software systems.
- Work in structured Scrum teams under experienced leads.
- Be responsible for delivering individual software components.
- Be responsible for hands on SQL / MS SQL Server development, including design, implementation, and performance optimisation.
- Broaden your skills through collaboration and mentorship.
What do you need to be successful?
- Strong T-SQL skills: Writing complex stored procedures and functions.
- Proficiency with SQL Server Management Studio (2008 – 2019).
- Experience creating and using SSIS packages (2008+).
- Database design using normalization and ER-diagramming techniques.
A nice to have, but not essential
- XML Web Services or Web APIs.
- API testing tools (e.g., Postman, SOAP UI).
- Agile methodologies such as Scrum.
- Version control with Team Foundation Server or Azure DevOps.
- Microsoft Azure Cloud services.
- Healthcare data standards like HL7 v2.x and FHIR.
- Redgate SQL developer tools.
- Requirements analysis and business logic development.
- Unit testing with TSQLT.
- PowerShell or Unix scripting.
- High Availability: Mirroring, Replication, Clustering, Always On (Availability Groups).
- Performance tuning tools: SQL Profiler, Query Analyzer.
