IT Field Engineer (On-Site, York)
Location: York (100% on-site)
Rate: £26.00 per hour (£208 per day via umbrella company)
Contract Length: 6 months
Overview
We are seeking a skilled and customer-focused Field Engineer to support our client on a 6-month contract based in York. This role involves providing hands-on technical support across a range of hardware, software, and network environments, primarily on customer premises.
You will play a key role in ensuring IT systems operate efficiently, are maintained to high standards, and deliver a seamless experience for end users.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a Field Engineer for designated clients, supporting technologies including kiosks and service desks
- Provide support across desktops, laptops, servers, AV systems, and network devices
- Install, configure, and maintain hardware, software, and network infrastructure
- Perform IMAC activities (installs, moves, adds, and changes)
- Carry out preventative maintenance and system upgrades
- Test and certify PCs, networks, servers, and approved applications
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, including follow-ups and escalations
- Schedule service visits and complete all required documentation
- Maintain excellent customer relationships and ensure high satisfaction levels
- Meet SLA targets and deliver timely, effective support
- Represent the business professionally in all client interactions
Key Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent)
- Technical certification or Associate Degree (preferred)
- 1-2 years' experience in a similar IT support or field engineering role
- Strong knowledge of hardware, software, and networking fundamentals
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
