Sales Development Representative

We’re looking for a Sales Associate to join us at instep.ai - someone driven, resilient and energised by speaking to people, opening doors and generating opportunities.

We build domain-specific voice AI for high-call-volume industries, starting with property. Our first product, Ella, helps estate agents, new homes developers and surveyors capture and qualify every lead through natural, human-sounding conversations. It’s practical AI that drives measurable growth.

You’ll be working closely with the founding team to build and scale our top-of-funnel engine - identifying prospects, starting conversations and creating the pipeline that fuels revenue. This is a hands-on, high-activity role where you’ll spend most of your time talking to customers, understanding their needs and turning curiosity into qualified opportunities.

What you’ll be doing

This role flexes with what’s happening in the business, but day-to-day you’ll:

  • Own outbound prospecting across phone, email and LinkedIn — researching accounts, building smart lead lists and running structured outreach
  • Make high-quality cold calls to estate agents, developers, surveyors and related verticals, introducing Ella and sparking interest
  • Qualify inbound and outbound leads to ensure strong pipeline hygiene and clarity on next steps
  • Maintain and optimise CRM data: logging activity, updating lead status and ensuring nothing slips through the cracks
  • Coordinate with the GTM team to book demos, hand off qualified opportunities and refine our messaging
  • Experiment with new outreach angles, scripts and cadences — continuously testing what works
  • Share customer insights back into product, feeding into conversation design, objection handling and positioning
  • Jump in wherever needed — from supporting events to helping shape outbound playbooks as we scale

About you

There’s no single background that’s right for this, but you’re likely someone who:

  • Is energised by talking to people and comfortable making a high volume of calls
  • Learns quickly and adapts fast — especially when it comes to messaging, tools and customer profiles
  • Communicates clearly, confidently and with warmth
  • Is organised, structured and diligent with follow-through
  • Has a strong bias to action, you’d rather pick up the phone than overthink the perfect message
  • Has resilience: you don’t take rejection personally and can keep momentum high
  • Enjoys working in a small, ambitious team where pace, experimentation and iteration are the norm
  • Is curious about startups, AI and how technology changes real industries

You might have some experience in sales, customer-facing roles or outbound calling, or you might be early in your career but hungry to learn and grow quickly.

How we work

We’re remote-first in the UK, outcome-focused and fast-moving. You’ll have autonomy, flexibility and a lot of exposure - the pace is high, the learning curve steep and your work will directly shape our growth engine.

You’ll work closely with the CEO and COO day-to-day, with regular access to the rest of the founding team. Over time, this role naturally progresses into SDR Manager, Account Executive or broader GTM positions depending on your strengths.
