Director of Technology and Data

A major organisation operating in a regulated environment is seeking an exceptional Director of Technology & Data to lead its enterprise-wide technology and data agenda. Reporting directly to the CTO, and acting as a key deputy, this role holds full accountability for Technology and Data - spanning IT operations, platforms, cyber security, service assurance, data engineering, analytics and governance. This is a board-facing leadership position requiring gravitas, commercial acumen and proven delivery capability. We are not seeking a hands-on technologist, but a strategic leader who can shape vision, align technology and data to business strategy, and drive measurable organisational change at pace.
The Role
You will translate business strategy into an integrated technology and data roadmap, ensuring systems, governance and data capability fully support long-term objectives. Key responsibilities include:
- Setting and executing the enterprise Technology and Data strategy
- Deputising for the CTO and influencing at Executive and Board level
- Leading IT operations, infrastructure, cyber security and resilience
- Owning data governance, quality and availability of complex organisational data to support strategic decision-making and performance storytelling
- Driving end-to-end programme delivery ("cradle to grave" ownership)
- Managing budgets, vendors and commercial performance
- Building and resourcing high-performing, multidisciplinary teams
- Embedding a modern, digital-first and data-driven culture
Immediate Priorities (12 Months)
- Take ownership of the integrated technology strategy
- Become operational owner of a newly implemented cloud-based asset management / CRM platform, driving optimisation and continuous improvement in production
- Lead the Strategic Asset Data roadmap, resolving data quality and integration challenges
- Address resourcing pressures across legacy and new technology workstreams
- Strengthen governance, service assurance and delivery discipline
Longer-Term Transformation
- Rationalise and modernise a fragmented application estate
- Procure and implement new strategic systems
- Improve efficiency, value for money and technology integration
- Build scalable enterprise data architecture and improve data maturity
About You You are a strategic, commercially minded technology leader with experience in complex, regulated organisations. You bring:
- Proven leadership of enterprise Technology and Data functions
- Demonstrable delivery of major transformation programmes
- Strong data experience ensuring quality, governance and availability of complex data
- The ability to influence and steer senior leaders and Boards
- Energy and pace to drive organisational change
- A clear strategic point of view, balanced with operational execution
- You will be visionary yet delivery-focused, confident yet collaborative, and comfortable leading through complexity and challenge.
