Shopify Developer
Shopify Developer - Own Your Impact, Level Up Your Skills
£60,000 - £65,000 Central London 4 Days On-Site
Why This Role?
Forget being a cog in a corporate machine. This is your chance to work on a high-traffic e-commerce platform (600-700 orders/day) where your code directly impacts revenue and customer experience every single day.
You'll be joining a successful retail brand at the perfect moment - they're scaling fast with new investment backing, but they're still small enough that you'll have real ownership and visibility across the entire platform.
What Makes This Different?
Genuine mentorship - You'll be code-pairing daily with a brilliant senior developer who's built their entire Shopify infrastructure from scratch. This isn't "figure it out yourself" - it's proper knowledge transfer and skill development.
Meaningful projects, not tickets - Two major initiatives over the next year: a complete custom theme rewrite and rebuilding their checkout extensions. You'll own features end-to-end, not just pick up Jira tickets.
Learn Shopify Plus the right way - Full access to Shopify's top-tier platform. Even if you've never touched Shopify before, you'll be working with someone who knows it inside out and can teach you properly.
️ Build, don't just maintain - This isn't a "keep the lights on" role. You're joining to help eliminate single points of failure and architect solutions that'll scale with the business.
The Tech (Don't Worry If Shopify Is New to You)
They're using: Shopify Plus, Liquid, React, JavaScript, GraphQL, HTML/CSS
If you've got Node.js or full-stack chops too, that's a bonus, but not essential.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
- Year 1 Priority: Rewriting their custom checkout extensions (this is the business-critical stuff - you'll understand how everything works)
- Building a custom theme from scratch - ditching off-the-shelf and creating something bespoke
- Knowledge sharing & documentation - helping build a more resilient team structure
- Getting hands-on with the full stack when you want to - there's scope to expand into backend work if that interests you
Who Thrives Here?
You're someone who:
- Takes pride in writing clean, methodical code and cares about doing things properly
- Actually wants to learn and isn't afraid to ask questions
- Likes working closely with people (hence the 4 days on-site - it's about collaboration)
- Wants real exposure to how an e-commerce platform works, not just a narrow slice
- Isn't coming from a rigid corporate environment expecting 15 layers of process
