Lead Data / Software Engineer (London)

We are seeking a Lead Engineer to join our team and work on a variety of assignments alongside our product and commercial management teams. The role can be based either at our offices in London or Winnersh (Reading, Berkshire), or home working is available.

Duties will include cloud infrastructure development as well as working closely with our product teams on existing projects and new innovations to support company growth and profitability.

Key Responsibilities of the Lead Engineer

1. Leadership
2. Develop a deep understanding of our customers, the problems they are trying to solve, and how we can help solve them.

2. Plan, design, and implement scalable data pipelines.
3. Develop and implement data models and algorithms to support data science and machine learning initiatives.
4. Optimize data storage and retrieval systems for maximum performance.
5. Continuously monitor and improve data solutions to meet client needs.

2. Plan, design, and implement secure, scalable APIs and backend services.
3. Optimize APIs and backend services for performance.
4. Monitor and improve the performance of APIs and backend services.
5. Develop enterprise-level software with high performance and availability.

Technical Requirements

1. Leadership
2. Previous experience in a team leadership role.
3. Experience with Agile/Scrum frameworks.
4. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
5. Excellent communication skills, both technical and stakeholder level.

1. Data
2. Expertise with Databricks (PySpark).
3. Experience building and maintaining complex ETL projects end-to-end.
4. Expertise in data modeling, access, and storage techniques.
5. Experience with relational and document databases.
6. Strong understanding of data structures and algorithms.
7. Familiarity with Machine Learning, Statistics, and AI is desirable.
8. Experience with GitHub (Source Control).

2. Expertise with Kotlin (or Java).
3. Experience building secure, scalable JVW-based solutions.
4. Strong skills in writing testable, modular backend code.
5. Experience with system design.
6. PHP experience is highly desirable.
7. Experience with GitHub (Source Control).
