Scada Engineer
The role:
The SCADA Engineer is an expert on leading SCADA applications, Telemetry communications and related use within system control processes. This person will work on other programming and documentation projects as a priority
Additional responsibilities include:
- Possess a broad understanding of SCADA communications and IT Telecommunications Infrastructure. Enhances and maintains the SCADA Operations Control Centre Environment
- Develops and maintains standards, practices, procedures and policies for Enzen's clients using SCADA, SCADA network and SCADA telecommunications processes. Troubleshoot various communication issues remotely and remote equipment issues affecting the pipeline operations.
- Able to understand different communication types to SCADA and understanding the E2E Telemetry infrastructure.
- Coordinate with supplier to troubleshoot and point out the issue in right direction for resolving in Timely manner.
- Conducts Site Acceptance Testing to demonstrate and validate controls functionality.
- Taking ownership of technical issues and use your persuasive skills to work with 3rd line support to resolve more advanced issues when necessary.
- Responsible for the proper operation of all system software, hardware and network.
- Supports the existing infrastructure; assists with the maintenance of the computer operating system, network and the control system package.
- Provides SCADA and Telemetry support and working with IT infrastructure on system issues and upgrades. Develops/updates custom application functionality, understands and supports external system interfaces.
- Builds, modifies, tests and designs screens/mimics and database records in SCADA to add new operations functions. Supports troubleshooting control equipment by providing diagnostic information to the field.
- Able to work to identify scope of issues and recommend best practices to prevent further occurrences.
- Resolving escalated customer complaints without the need for team lead intervention.
- Participate in testing of new tools, applications, and releases; provide appropriate feedback for tool improvement.
- Documenting troubleshooting and problem resolution steps and ability to lead outages to resolution in a timely manner.
- Participation in providing training to customers as required.
- Prepare excel based reports based on incident severity.
What we're looking for
- SCADA Software Development, Testing and Support Experience.
- Good understanding of SCADA Telemetry interface, SCADA PLC/RTU interface and Routing/Networking to SCADA.
- Excellent written and verbal skills.
- Firm grasp of how web applications work and software products.
- Minimum 6 years of experience with any of the leading SCADA packages such as Schneider GeoSCADA/SCX Wonderware, GE Power On, ABB SCADA and/or Telvent
- Understanding/Setting up of PLC/SCADA interface.
- Networking knowledge
- Client-facing experience
- Good understanding of ITIL processes
- Good understanding of basic networking – switches, subnet, IP addressing, routers and routing
- Communication types- Satellite, ISDN,PSTN, GPRS, ADSL and M2M
- Knowledge of DNP3, Modbus, DL130, DF1, CPI, OPC and similar telemetry protocols
- Knowledge of Crystal Reports, SQL, Excel and general desktop support issues.
- Good knowledge on PLC's/RTU's and their interface to SCADA via Telemetry
- Working experience on PowerShell, WireShark, PuTTY, etc
- Experience with web site development/support, Web servers, and SQL a plus
- Strong communication skills with ability to report on work activity.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Computer Science required.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.)
- Certification on Networking is a plus
- SC Cleared
