Senior Audio Visual Technician Birmingham - 12 Months FTC

Role Overview

proAV is a leading global audio-visual integrator, providing AV and event services across a wide range of client partnerships.

We are looking for an experienced Senior AV Technician to lead the day-to-day AV service at a key client site in Birmingham. As the sole onsite technician and proAV's primary representative, you will combine hands-on technical support with meeting and event support, proactive room checks and coordination of specialist proAV teams.

This is an autonomous, client-facing role for someone who takes ownership, builds trusted relationships and wants to help shape a new managed AV service.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Experience & Service Ownership

  • Act as proAV's primary onsite representative and first point of contact for AV-related matters.
  • Deliver a professional, responsive service and build trusted relationships with client stakeholders.
  • Own service issues from first report through to resolution, keeping users and the AV Manager updated.
  • Understand how the client uses its spaces and technology and anticipate future requirements where possible.

Technical Support & Operational Assurance

  • Provide first and second line support across the AV and Unified Communications estate, including Microsoft Teams Rooms, presentation systems and digital signage.
  • Troubleshoot technical faults and resolve them independently or escalate with clear information to specialist teams.
  • Assist users with meeting room technology, connectivity and presentation requirements.
  • Complete daily checks of priority rooms and scheduled assurance checks across the wider AV estate.
  • Monitor equipment condition, recurring faults and operational risks, coordinating remedial support where required.
  • Record incidents, service requests and resolutions accurately and maintain current room and service documentation.

Meeting & Event Support

  • Support executive meetings, town halls, hybrid events, livestreams and internal broadcasts.
  • Prepare and test rooms and support rehearsals ahead of important meetings and events.
  • Work with client stakeholders, Events teams and third-party suppliers to ensure successful delivery.

Service Coordination & Improvement

  • Coordinate Engineering, Projects and Events resources, including specialist support visits.
  • Prioritise work according to business impact and maintain ownership until it is completed.
  • Produce monthly service reports and communicate risks, trends and operational updates.
  • Identify and support service improvements, technology refreshes and project activity.

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Work safely and comply with all client and proAV Health & Safety policies and onsite procedures.
  • Follow all information security, cyber security and data protection requirements.

Person Specification

Essential Experience & Skills

  • At least three years' experience in a corporate AV support environment.
  • Strong first and second line AV fault-finding and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience supporting Microsoft Teams Rooms, Unified Communications and common audio, video, display and presentation technologies.
  • Experience supporting corporate meetings, presentations and events, ideally including hybrid or broadcast environments.
  • Confidence working independently in a client-facing environment.
  • Excellent customer service, communication and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and recognise when specialist escalation is required.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience working within a managed service environment.
  • CTS certification or a similar industry qualification.
  • Knowledge of Crestron, Extron, Q-SYS, Biamp, Cisco or comparable AV technologies, together with a basic understanding of AV networking
