Business Systems Developer Newcastle upon Tyne | Hybrid (4 days office / 1 day home) | Full Time | Competitive Salary + Bonus + Excellent Benefits Are you an experienced Business Systems Developer looking to play a key role in the continued evolution of technology within a leading law firm? An established and highly regarded law firm in Newcastle is looking to recruit a talented Business Systems Developer to join its growing IT team. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a collaborative, forward-thinking environment where technology is recognised as a vital part of delivering exceptional client service. Working closely with colleagues across the firm, you'll be responsible for developing, enhancing and supporting the firm's core legal business systems, helping to improve efficiency, automate processes and drive innovation. The Role As part of the Business Systems Team, you will be involved in the development, support and continuous improvement of the firm's Practice Management, Case Management and Document Management systems. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Developing and maintaining legal case management workflows and business processes from initial requirements through to implementation and review.
  • Providing application support and troubleshooting for business systems across the firm.
  • Building and maintaining integrations between business applications using RESTful APIs.
  • Developing and maintaining SQL databases, reports and dashboards.
  • Producing and maintaining document templates.
  • Completing scheduled system maintenance and upgrades.
  • Creating technical and change management documentation.
  • Supporting the delivery of IT training to colleagues.
  • Working with stakeholders to identify opportunities for process improvement and automation.
  • Assisting with wider IT projects as required.
About You We're keen to hear from candidates who have:
  • At least three years' experience developing and supporting legal business systems.
  • Experience working with Practice Management, Case Management and Document Management systems.
  • Strong SQL skills, including T-SQL and SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS).
  • Experience using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
  • Experience building integrations using RESTful APIs.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities whilst maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
  • A collaborative approach with the confidence to work independently when required.
Desirable experience includes:
  • Knowledge of Advanced Partner for Windows (P4W).
  • Experience with AI technologies, automation and machine learning.
  • Python development.
  • Microsoft Copilot, Large Language Models (LLMs) or similar AI platforms.
  • An understanding of how AI can enhance legal technology, automate workflows and improve business processes.
