Lead Data Analytics Engineer ( SC Cleared )

Job Description
This is a hybrid role requiring travel once per fortnight to the Staines office and once per fortnight to London, aligned with client and team collaboration needs.

A lead Engineer will lead the design and deployment of data models for analysis, analytical reporting, and analytics.

Activities done:

  • work with stakeholders and teams across the domain and understand relationships between data and business processes, and use this information to define data requirements for analysis and analytics
  • interpret the needs of technical and non-technical stakeholders, and manage their expectations including proactive and reactive communication
  • design an appropriate metadata repository and suggest changes to improve current metadata repositories
  • use a range of tools for storing and working with metadata, advising members of the team about metadata management
  • lead and support a team of analytics engineers to design, build and maintain data models using tools such as data build tool (dbt)
  • build and review complex data models, ensuring adherence to standards
  • use data integration tools and languages to integrate and store data, and advise teams on best practice
  • ensure data for analysis meets data quality standards and is interoperable with other data sets, enabling reuse
  • work with other data professionals to improve modelling and integration patterns and standards
  • understand and help the teams to apply a range of techniques for data profiling
  • source system analysis from a complex single source including bringing multiple data sources together in a conformed model for analysis
  • review their work ensuring standards and best practice are consistently applied for data models and documentation
  • Act as a key point of contact for analytical user communities, enabling automation, and adoption of tools such as dbt and Airflow.

Deliverables:

  • Gather user requirements and translate them into clear, deliverable tasks.
  • Lead a team of Analytics Engineers to build flexible, quality-assured dimensional data models for analytical and reporting use, using dbt.
  • Work with Data Engineers to manage end-to-end data data services and deploy solutions in a reproducible, sustainable way.
  • Support analytical teams to use modelled data effectively, including by collecting, storing and presenting metadata to enable intelligent data use.
