Senior ICP-MS Analyst

Location – Bedford (On-site position)

Our client is an established analytical organisation with a state-of-the-art Bedford laboratory supporting large-scale environmental monitoring programmes and complex analytical projects. They are looking for an experienced Senior Analyst with strong ICP-MS experience to join their Inorganic Chemistry team.

The role:

  • Operate and maintain ICP-MS and CV-AFS instrumentation, including routine troubleshooting and preventative maintenance.
  • Lead method development, validation and optimisation for environmental samples and emerging analytical requirements.
  • Review and interpret complex analytical data, investigating anomalous results and non-conformances.
  • Ensure analytical work is completed to the required quality, regulatory and UKAS standards.
  • Manage analytical workflows and scheduling to support the timely delivery of results.
  • Provide technical guidance, supervision and mentoring to analysts and extraction chemists.
  • Work with project teams and clients to develop appropriate analytical programmes.

Suitable applicants:

  • The key requirement for this position is strong practical experience operating ICP-MS instrumentation within an analytical laboratory environment.
  • Proven ICP-MS and CV-AFS experience, including instrument troubleshooting and maintenance.
  • Experience of method development, validation and optimisation.
  • Experience working within an accredited analytical laboratory and familiarity with UKAS quality systems.
  • Experience with environmental samples and knowledge of environmental contaminants/regulatory testing.
  • Familiarity with LIMS and analytical data review.
  • Experience with Agilent instrumentation/software would be advantageous.
  • BSc in Chemistry or a related discipline, or equivalent industrial experience.

The role offers the opportunity to develop into a se nior technical or management position, with increasing responsibility for analytical programmes and client-facing projects.

Permanent, full-time position based on-site in Bedford.
