Looking to hire a Data Visualisation Engineer to help shape how developers around the world tell visual stories with data.
You’ll join a highly respected, product-led engineering team building a modern, open-source JavaScript charting library used at serious scale, from complex enterprise systems to high-stakes decision-making tools.
Your mission:
- Raise the visual bar.
- Turn data into stories developers are proud to ship.
This sits right at the intersection of data visualisation, design judgement, and engineering craft.
What you’ll be doing
- Designing beautiful, meaningful chart examples that demonstrate how data should feel when it’s well presented
- Elevating the visual quality and storytelling across documentation, demos, and the website
- Defining and championing best-practice visualisation patterns — clarity first, always
- Helping developers understand why a chart works, not just how to configure it
- Contributing to blogs, tutorials, and visual content that teach strong visual thinking
- Optionally contributing to the core charting engine if you enjoy going deeper technically
What we’re looking for
- A strong portfolio that shows visual storytelling, not just charts-for-the-sake-of-it
- Deep understanding of data visualisation principles (hierarchy, scale, colour, perception)
- Excellent visual taste and obsessive attention to detail
- Strong JavaScript and/or TypeScript
- Experience with charting or data visualisation libraries
- The ability to clearly explain visual decisions — to engineers and non-engineers alike
Nice to have
- Experience with Canvas or SVG
- Interest in computer graphics
- Comfort working close to engineers on real production systems
