Data Architect – Commodities Trading | Azure | Databricks | Strategic Modelling Focus

Day Rate: Up to £750 per day via Umbrella (D.O.E)

3 days a week in London

We’re working with a leading commodities trading business looking for a high-impact Data Architect to drive enterprise-wide data strategy and architecture.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives on building complex data models across physical and financial commodities, is fluent in Databricks (Snowflake also welcome), and can operate with a strategic, business-aligned mindset . You'll be embedded in a fast-paced trading environment, shaping the data platform that underpins high-value decisions across trading, risk and operations.

What You’ll Do

• Lead the design and implementation of scalable, high-performance data platforms on Azure
• Own enterprise-wide data modelling for trading and financial systems – from market data to trade flows and risk metrics
• Build and optimise pipelines for near real-time and batch processing using Databricks and related tech
• Define and implement data standards, lineage, governance, and quality metrics across systems
• Collaborate closely with tech, data, and trading teams to align architecture with business strategy
• Contribute to the long-term vision for cloud-based, enterprise-grade data infrastructure

What We’re Looking For

• Proven experience as a Data Architect in a financial services or commodities trading environment
• Deep hands-on expertise with Databricks ; Snowflake experience also considered
• Strong track record in designing data models for trading, market data, and risk systems
• Strategic thinker with the ability to translate business goals into technical data solutions
• Proficient in building data pipelines (ETL/ELT), data streaming (Kafka/Spark), and integration/API work
• Solid grasp of Azure (preferred), but AWS/GCP also welcome
• Familiarity with governance tools (e.g. Purview, Collibra) is a plus
