Functional Test Technician (Audio Visual & Electronics)

Perm - 5 days in office in the North West

Together, we are looking to add an experienced Functional Test Technician from an electronics and ideally AV background to their team.

As a Functional Test Technician, you’ll play a key role in ensuring our client's AV products meet performance and reliability standards before they reach their customers. Working closely with production and engineering teams, you'll carry out detailed testing, diagnostics, and continuous improvement activities.

General duties include:

• Perform functional and performance testing on AV electronic products and subassemblies.

• Use diagnostic tools such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analysers, and bespoke test rigs.

• Identify and troubleshoot faults on PCBs, wiring, firmware, and interfaces.

• Document test results and ensure compliance with CE, FCC, and internal standards.

• Maintain calibration records and ensure test equipment is in working condition.

• Contribute to root cause analysis and corrective actions for product issues.

• Support prototype testing and feedback loops to improve product design and manufacturing processes.

To qualify:

• Proven experience in a test technician or electronics testing role

• Solid understanding of AV systems, electronic schematics, and signal types (e.g., HDMI, RS232)

• Confident using test equipment: oscilloscope, multimeter, logic analyser, etc.

• Strong documentation and communication skills

• Self-starter with problem-solving mindset and attention to detail

• Familiarity with ESD-safe practices and ISO-based quality systems

Desireables:

• BTEC, HNC/HND or equivalent in Electronics or a related field

• Experience with embedded systems or firmware testing

• Knowledge of Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies
