IT Schools Engineer
Our client are a multi award winning MSP who are recruiting for a skilled IT Engineer to operate at various schools in the Doncaster area on a field basis permanently.
We are looking for a proactive, skilled IT Technician to work directly within schools, supporting staff and students with all aspects of IT. This fast-paced role involves scheduled site visits, troubleshooting a variety of IT systems, and providing hands-on technical support. You’ll experience a broad range of school IT environments, making this an ideal opportunity for someone who thrives on problem-solving, initiative, and delivering excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Attend schools to act as the in-house IT technician, resolving issues and providing guidance on IT systems.
- Own issues from allocation to resolution, keeping clients informed throughout the process.
- Maintain accurate documentation of client infrastructure, updates, and support activities.
- Provide 1st line support to all technology users, including desktops, mobile devices, and peripherals.
- Set up, deploy, and re-image desktops and hardware, maintaining antivirus and security updates.
- Install and maintain software, web/email filtering, and firewall setups.
- Liaise with 2nd line support for server issues and network management.
- Maintain network user accounts, permissions, and daily backups.
- Act as a liaison between school management and our company, providing feedback and identifying potential opportunities for service enhancements.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in IT support, troubleshooting, and technical problem-solving.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Windows (Server & Desktop), Active Directory, Group Policy, and networking fundamentals (LAN/WAN, switches, DHCP, DNS).
- Experience with mobile technology (Android & iOS), MS Office (Access preferred), and general server/PC support.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and communicate clearly with technical and non-technical staff.
- Strong organisational skills and a customer-focused mindset.
- Previous experience working onsite at a primary or secondary school within technology
Desirable Skills
- Windows Server 2012-2016 administration
- SQL Server maintenance (triggers, stored procedures)
- Experience with Cisco Meraki, WatchGuard, VMware, Hyper-V, and Veeam backups
Mandatory Requirements
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Must be eligible for an enhanced DBS
