Software Asset Manager

We are seeking an organised and detail-focused Software Asset Manager to oversee the full life cycle of software assets across the organisation. This role ensures efficient software usage, compliance with licensing requirements, and cost-effective procurement, working closely with IT, procurement, and business teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain an accurate inventory of software licences, usage, and entitlements using internal systems.
  • Monitor software life cycles to manage renewals, upgrades, and retirements.
  • Ensure compliance with licensing agreements and support internal/external audits.
  • Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to resolve licensing queries.
  • Analyse software usage to identify underutilised or unnecessary applications and recommend cost-saving measures.
  • Manage relationships with software vendors, including contract negotiations and renewals.
  • Assist with onboarding and evaluation of new vendors.
  • Develop and enforce software asset management policies and educate staff on proper usage.
  • Produce reports on usage, compliance, and financial metrics for management.
  • Partner with IT and project teams to ensure proper software deployment and alignment with budgets.
  • Assist in procurement processes, including raising purchase orders, obtaining quotes, tracking deliveries, and resolving discrepancies.
  • Identify risks related to software asset management and implement mitigation strategies.

Experience and Skills Requirements:

  • Proven experience in software asset management, IT procurement, or a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of software licensing models and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent organisational and record-keeping skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret usage and financial data.
  • Effective communication skills for interacting with internal teams and external vendors.
  • Experience in contract management and vendor negotiation.
  • Proficiency in asset management and ticketing systems.
  • Knowledge of risk management and governance processes.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and support cross-functional teams.
