Overview
A Data Protection Manager is needed to lead data privacy, governance, and compliance across a complex, fast-moving organisation. You’ll combine strong GDPR expertise with technical understanding, leadership ability, and the capacity to drive long-term change.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all data protection and privacy compliance (GDPR, DPA 2018).
- Identify and manage data and cyber risks involving personal data.
- Act as the main contact for the ICO and handle regulatory notifications.
- Manage data breaches, SARs, DPIAs, policies, and governance frameworks.
- Conduct audits, monitor compliance, and report risks to senior leadership.
- Support teams across the business to embed privacy standards.
- Oversee third-party data risk and ensure appropriate contractual controls.
- Lead cross-functional work and support organisational change programmes.
Skills & Experience Required
- Strong understanding of GDPR and relevant data privacy legislation.
- Able to understand technical risks, systems, and documentation.
- Experienced managing or coordinating internal/external teams.
- Confident influencing senior leaders and challenging where needed.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder skills.
- Organised, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities.
- Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving ability.
