LOCATION: Hybrid Working with 1-2 Days per Week onsite in Reading

JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Senior Infrastructure Engineer / Systems Engineer where you will help ensure infrastructure services remain resilient, secure and operational across hybrid and cloud platforms.

As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer / Systems Engineer you will work closely with colleagues and suppliers to resolve complex issues, deliver technical improvements, and contribute to on-call, incident management and project work, using technologies such as virtualisation, Azure, Microsoft 365 and networking.

The Senior Infrastructure Engineer / Systems Engineer will play a key role in supporting automation, configuration management, business continuity and disaster recovery, while contributing to service improvements that enhance stability and user experience.

DUTIES

Your duties as the Senior Infrastructure Engineer / Systems Engineer include:

  • Providing Technical Leadership: Ensuring core infrastructure is operationally fit for purpose
  • Troubleshooting & Performance Analysis: Identifying and resolving complex issues
  • Delivering Infrastructure Projects: Planning, installing and maintaining components and services
  • Automating Processes: Creating scripts and tools to streamline deployments
  • Maintaining Documentation: Ensuring operational procedures remain accurate and effective
  • Managing Configuration: Supporting configuration management strategies and standards
  • Supporting Project Teams: Understanding requirements and implementing appropriate solutions
  • Liaising With Stakeholders: Communicating with suppliers, internal teams and users
  • Enhancing Security Posture: Assisting with the deployment of security measures
  • Maintaining Core Systems: Installing, configuring and supporting software and hardware

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

ESSENTIAL

  • Previous experience in infrastructure and networking across cloud and hybrid environments
  • Experience with Microsoft technologies including Active Directory, Azure, Microsoft 365 and PowerShell
  • Experience with networking including firewalls, routing, switching, VPN and wireless
  • Ability to meet conflicting demands and manage workloads effectively
  • Skilled in producing clear technical documentation
  • Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences
  • Experience with troubleshooting virtualised, cloud and endpoint environments
  • Strong decision-making, planning and problem-solving skills
  • Eligibility to work in the UK

DESIRABLE

  • Experience with Azure InTune, Hyper-V, PKI and Group Policy
  • Experience with DHCP, DNS, authentication platforms and security tools
  • Experience with storage, backup and disaster recovery technologies
  • Knowledge of monitoring tools, scripting, Linux or Mac device management
  • PRINCE2 or advanced vendor certifications
