Aatom Recruitment are currently seeking an experienced OCR Project Manager to work on behalf of a Local Authority as part of a major transformation programme. This role will lead the transition of all existing invoice and document-processing activities into a new SAP S/4HANA and SAP Ariba environment.
Role OverviewYou will be responsible for delivering a controlled and effective migration from legacy OCR and document-processing systems into the Council’s new SAP landscape. The role will focus on ensuring seamless system integration, improved controls, and the realisation of efficiencies across Finance, Procurement, Accounts Payable, and wider service areas.
This is a high-impact role requiring strong project leadership, hands-on ERP and OCR implementation experience, and the ability to coordinate multiple business and technical workstreams. The position operates on a hybrid basis, with regular on-site presence in central London to support delivery and stakeholder engagement.
A key element of the role will be change management, ensuring successful adoption of new processes and systems across internal teams and external suppliers.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the end-to-end migration of OCR and document-processing activities into SAP S/4HANA and SAP Ariba
- Manage the transition from legacy systems, ensuring continuity of service and minimal disruption
- Oversee system integration, data migration, testing, and go-live activities
- Coordinate delivery across finance, procurement, accounts payable, IT, and third-party vendors
- Ensure project delivery aligns with programme timelines, governance, and budget controls
- Drive process improvement, automation, and control enhancements
- Lead stakeholder engagement and communications across the Council and its supply chain
- Deliver effective change management, supporting users through training, adoption, and new ways of working
- Identify and manage risks, issues, and dependencies, providing regular reporting to senior stakeholders
- Proven experience delivering OCR and invoice processing solutions within SAP S/4HANA and SAP Ariba
- Strong project management background within ERP or finance transformation programmes
- Experience working within a local authority or public sector environment (highly desirable)
- Demonstrable experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder projects
- Strong understanding of finance and procurement processes
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and change management skills
- Ability to work both strategically and hands-on in a fast-paced transformation environment
