Technical Lead – GCP Data Engineering

Join a high-impact data engineering team driving large-scale, cloud-first analytics platforms. As a Technical Lead – GCP Data Engineering, you'll architect and deliver robust data solutions on Google Cloud Platform, shaping how data is ingested, processed, stored, and analysed across the business. You'll provide technical leadership, mentor engineers, and influence architectural decisions within a modern, high-volume data environment.
What You'll Do
- Architect, design, and implement scalable cloud-based data solutions within GCP.
- Define and optimise BigQuery data models for performance, scalability, and cost efficiency.
- Design and maintain automated ETL/ELT pipelines for ingestion, transformation, and loading.
- Implement data validation, monitoring, and sequencing frameworks to ensure reliability and accuracy.
- Collaborate with architects and senior engineers to deliver secure, compliant data platforms.
- Integrate GCP data services with business systems and analytical tools.
- Lead code reviews, set engineering standards, and mentor data engineers.
- Act as the technical authority for GCP and BigQuery across the team.
- Ensure solutions align with security, governance, and compliance best practices.
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience designing and delivering data platforms on Google Cloud Platform.
- Deep hands-on expertise with Google BigQuery, including performance tuning and security.
- Strong knowledge of data modelling, transformation, and data governance principles.
- Advanced SQL skills and experience with data processing frameworks.
- Experience with orchestration tools such as Cloud Composer (Airflow).
- Solid understanding of core GCP services: BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Pub/Sub, Cloud Functions, Kubernetes, IAM.
- Experience using Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, Ansible, or similar).
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and version control tools such as Git and Jenkins.
- Strong leadership, communication, and mentoring skills.
