We're looking for a hands-on Network Installation & Commissioning Engineer to join a leading home automation and AV integrator in London. This is a site-based role focused on deploying, configuring, and commissioning Cisco-based network infrastructure for luxury residential and commercial projects.
This is not an IT support or service desk role. You'll be on-site, physically installing and configuring networks, ensuring performance, reliability, and integration with client systems.
The role
You'll take ownership of network installations, working with switches, routers, firewalls, VLANs, and wireless controllers. You'll collaborate with project managers and engineers, follow technical designs, and maintain detailed documentation.
What you'll be doing
- Installing and commissioning Cisco network equipment (switches, routers, firewalls, wireless access points)
- Rack and stack of networking hardware, structured cabling, and patching
- Configuring VLANs, routing, VPNs, and wireless controllers per design
- Testing and troubleshooting network performance and connectivity
- Maintaining accurate site documentation and as-built network diagrams
- Liaising with project managers, lead engineers, and vendors to ensure seamless delivery
- Applying best practice for network security and reliability
What we're looking for
Essential:
- Proven hands-on experience installing and commissioning Cisco network hardware
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking, DHCP, DNS, NAT, QoS, and VLANs
- Layer 2/3 switching and routing experience; VPN configuration and wireless controller knowledge
- Ability to follow technical designs and troubleshoot complex network issues on-site
- Experience with structured cabling and rack installations
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to client sites
Desirable:
- Cisco certifications (CCNA required, CCNP advantageous)
- Experience with other enterprise-grade network systems (Meraki, Ruckus, UniFi, etc.)
- Knowledge of firewall configuration and cybersecurity best practices
