This is an exciting opportunity to join the Antimicrobial Pharmacy team as Data Analyst within the Aneurin Bevan University Health Board.
This is a key role in supporting our ambition to monitor antimicrobial prescribing by producing intelligence to inform evidence-based decision-making.
Main duties of the job
This role embodies the full data and intelligence cycle: gathering data, cleansing data, transformation of data and creating outputs to support our understanding of antimicrobial prescribing in Aneurin Bevan University Health Board. Utilising a multitude of data sets and data sources to develop dashboards, routine reporting, and respond to ad hoc requests are important tasks within this role. A keen eye for data quality, effective time management, and liaising with national and health board colleagues are activities which are central to all tasks.
Other tasks include supporting important campaigns such as World Antimicrobial Awareness week and undertaking audits. You will be key in giving data and intelligence a voice, by sharing insights across the team and with system partners aligned to priority workstreams and delivery of Welsh Government antimicrobial prescribing targets.

Please note the successful candidate will be required to work across multiple Health Board sites, and work on site at least part of each week. The target start date is 1st of April. Interviews will be held face to face on Wednesday 18th February.

Experience
- Experience in an analytical role
- Experienced in an extensive range of administrative practices
- Experience in operating All Wales data analysis tools e.g. Llygad, CASPA, Spira, AMAT
- Working knowledge of medical terminology
- Working within healthcare / NHS setting
- Experience in developing webpages/MS Sharepoint
Qualifications & Knowledge
- Educated to Degree level or equivalent relevant experience
- Detailed knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Office 365 Suite of products (particularly Excel, PowerAutomate, PowerBI, PowerApps) along with understanding how they interconnect with other information systems.
- Able to summarise data in tables, charts and pivot tables, and use statistical process controls.
- A-level mathematics
- Knowledge of a range of statistical techniques. Eg. SPC, Standard Deviation
- Knowledge of NHS datasets and data definitions
- Knowledge of hospital and GP prescribing and pharmaceutical systems and processes
- Awareness of the National agenda for the reduction of Antimicrobial Resistance
