IT Application Testing Administrator

Strong communication skills are essential, along with practical experience in testing NHS applications and interfaces--particularly those involving HL7. Manual testing experience is required, as well as the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.

This is a multi-site role, requiring travel between Bedford Borough Hall, Luton, and Bedford, with the possibility of additional locations. Although standard office hours apply, the role also requires flexibility, including the ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends when needed.

Interview Process Interviews will be conducted in person at our Bedford offices.

Main duties of the job

The Testing Administrator supports the Applications Team in delivering reliable and effective application services across the Trust. The role is responsible for testing new, upgraded, and existing applications to ensure they meet agreed specifications and do not disrupt clinical or operational workflows.

Key duties include testing interfaces between clinical systems to maintain interoperability and data integrity, and carrying out regression testing to confirm defects have been resolved and system changes are functioning as expected. The post holder will identify, log, prioritise, and track defects throughout the testing lifecycle, escalating recurring or complex issues to ensure long-term solutions.

The role also involves researching, designing, and developing bespoke test scripts for new applications and upgrades, while ensuring all testing documentation is accurate, up to date, and version-controlled. The Testing Administrator will liaise with third-party suppliers and internal technical teams, managing support calls through to resolution in line with agreed processes.

Additionally, the post holder will support junior team members and assist with application implementation and ongoing support, using strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills to help maintain high system availability and a positive user experience.
