IT Infrastructure and Support Engineer

Salary: £28,000 – £31,000 DOE

Way of Working: Full time (40 hours per week), office-based.

ABOUT THE BUSINESS

A well-established, growing education group operating multiple independent schools, nurseries and educational services across the South of England is hiring due to continued expansion and increasing investment in digital strategy. The organisation is modernising its infrastructure, enhancing cloud capabilities, and embarking on several planned upgrade and transformation projects across its sites. This role sits within a central IT function that is focused on delivering resilient, secure, and future-proofed technology to support learning environments and business operations.

THE IT INFRASTRUCTURE AND SUPPORT ENGINEER OPPORTUNITY

  • Deliver second-line support across multiple sites, resolving escalated issues related to networking and infrastructure.
  • Maintain, support and upgrade servers, networking equipment, PCs and cloud services across the organisation.
  • Work with senior IT leaders to design and implement infrastructure projects, including system upgrades and new deployments.
  • Conduct scheduled site visits, audits and compliance checks to ensure smooth IT operations and future planning.
  • Contribute to strategic IT development, including digital learning initiatives and cloud-based improvements.

YOUR KEY SKILLS

  • Experience providing IT and cloud-based user support, ideally in multi-site environments.
  • Strong working knowledge of PC hardware, Windows 10/11, macOS, TCP/IP, subnets and wireless networking.
  • Hands-on skills with structured cabling (Cat5e/6) and basic Layer 2/3 networking.
  • Confident with Microsoft 365 administration including Teams, OneNote, OneDrive and SharePoint.
  • Excellent communication skills, proactive attitude and strong problem-solving ability.
  • Desirable exposure to: fibre cabling, AV tech, Windows Server (2019–2025), Intune, cloud platforms (IaaS/PaaS/SaaS), PowerApps/Power Platform, VMWare ESXi, or ITIL Foundation.
  • Relevant certifications (Cisco, Microsoft, CompTIA, AWS) or willingness to work towards them.
