IT Technician – Newcastle (1 Day from home)

A rapidly expanding, high-tech financial services organisation is looking for an IT Technician to join its busy, friendly, office-based team in Newcastle. This is a great opportunity for someone who loves a mix of hands-on technical work, problem solving and supporting colleagues across a modern Windows/Mac environment.
What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll work under the Service Desk Team Leader and support users across head office and remote sites. Your day-to-day work will include:
User Support
- Creating/removing user accounts and managing permissions via Active Directory, Exchange and Microsoft 365
- Troubleshooting hardware, software and connectivity issues for colleagues at all levels
- Supporting meeting room users and ensuring all A/V equipment is working
- Preparing, imaging and rebuilding laptops
- Installing job-specific software (e.g., Sage, Visio)
- Managing VPN access and 2FA
- Supporting BYOD users
Server & Infrastructure Support
- Supporting Windows Server 2012+ , AD, Group Policy and Exchange
- Working with Windows Virtual Servers (VMware)
- Using tools including Sophos Enterprise Console and PowerShell
Telephony Support
- Managing accounts, call groups and IVR menus across Skype for Business & 8x8
- Supporting call routing, availability changes and call recording (Verba)
Additional Responsibilities
- Providing remote support to colleagues at other offices
- Assisting with office moves and equipment setups
- Creating and updating documentation
- Sharing knowledge with other team members and helping develop apprentices
What We’re Looking For
- Experience in an IT support role
- Strong communication and customer-facing skills
- A collaborative, team-focused attitude
- Self-motivated, proactive and keen to learn
- A full UK driving licence is preferred
