System Engineer Hypervisor

Do you want to be a valued part of the critical infrastructure that serves communities across Europe and beyond? Are you looking for a position in which you can set direction and help shape our company? If so, then you could be the newest addition to our team as a System Engineer Hypervisor.

Be part of the movement - and play your part.

About The Role

In this role, you’ll play a key part in maintaining and enhancing DFDS’ virtualisation and Wintel environments across multiple locations. You’ll take technical ownership of core hypervisor platforms, support complex Windows and Active Directory infrastructures, and contribute to both ongoing operations and strategic projects. With a strong focus on reliability, continuous improvement, and knowledge sharing, you’ll help ensure our systems remain stable, secure, and ready to support the wider business.

You will be responsible for

  • Overseeing daily maintenance and monitoring of DFDS’ VMWare and Hyper-V environments across various sites.
  • Providing 2nd and 3rd line support for VMWare, Hyper-V, and associated Wintel-related issues.
  • Driving continuous optimisation and technical ownership of hypervisor setups to improve performance and stability.
  • Supporting the management and operation of DFDS’ large-scale Windows Server and Active Directory infrastructure.
  • Creating, updating, and maintaining technical documentation while offering guidance and mentoring to wider team members.

About You

You’re an experienced and forward-thinking IT professional with deep expertise in virtualisation technologies, particularly within VMWare (VCF stack) and Hyper-V environments. Your strong scripting and automation skills in PowerShell, combined with broad Wintel knowledge, enable you to streamline operations and solve complex technical challenges efficiently. Experience with storage technologies or cloud IaaS is a bonus, and you’re always eager to expand your skill set.

You thrive in a fast-paced environment where priorities can shift, and you’re confident making clear decisions about what needs attention first. You understand the realities of working within a large enterprise setup and navigate its structures effectively. With an analytical and structured approach, you adapt quickly to change - whether that’s evolving business needs or a move to a new hypervisor platform.

You show initiative, take ownership of your work, and contribute proactively to the team. Clear communication comes naturally to you, and you connect well with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels. Above all, you remain curious, continuously staying up to date with emerging technologies relevant to your field.

We think the strongest teams are built on diversity and inclusivity. Contrasting opinions, varied skills and strong characters bring out the best in us all. And we cannot wait for you to join.
