About The Role Senior Infrastructure Engineer – Braintree District Council Temporary, Part-Time 3 days per week 2-3 Months Contract £389.864 PAYE / £500 Umbrella daily rate Immediate Start Closing Date: Tuesday 9th December 2025 Interviews: Monday 15th December 2025 Essex County Council (ECC) are delighted to be supporting Braintree District Council in recruiting a Senior Infrastructure Engineer on a part-time, temporary basis. Due to the nature of this role, the successful candidate will be required to be on-site 2 days per week. Key Accountabilities:
- Technical support and maintenance for enterprise level server infrastructure including Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP.
- Manage, troubleshoot and optimise network architecture, including LAN/WAN, WIFI, firewalls, VPNs, and routing for secure connectivity.
- Technical support and knowledge of Backup solutions and Disaster Recovery
- Monitor system performance and capacity, proactively identifying and resolving issues
- Ensure robust cybersecurity measures, including vulnerability management, patching, and compliance
- Technical lead for infrastructure projects, migrations, and upgrades
- Administer and manage Microsoft 365/Office 365 environments, including Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, Co-Pilot, Intune, and security/compliance configurations.
- Maintain documentation and enforcement of IT policies
- Local government experience
- Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior engineers and support teams.
