London (Hybrid – 50% onsite)

The Role:

As an Applied Science PhD Intern , you’ll help push forward the future of AI-driven search and information retrieval. You'll work on projects involving large language models, graph-based discovery, contextualisation, personalisation, and scalable machine learning techniques.

You’ll collaborate across multidisciplinary teams, explore novel approaches, and help shape intelligent user experiences that make work faster, smarter, and more intuitive.

This role is hybrid, requiring 50% onsite time in London (Paddington area).

What You’ll Work On:

  • Develop or apply cutting-edge techniques across:
  • LLM prompt engineering & optimisation
  • Graph-based and personalised information retrieval
  • Contextual search and recommendation systems
  • Synthetic data pipelines & LLM evaluation frameworks
  • Build scalable methods and prototypes that can transition into real product environments.
  • Analyse and document methodologies with the potential for publication in respected AI research venues.
  • Support dataset creation, feature exploration and data preparation workflows.
  • Deep-dive into your research area and share knowledge with the immediate team.

Required Qualifications

  • PhD/Doctorate or Currently Pursuing in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with experience in:
  • Machine learning or statistical modelling
  • Predictive analytics or data mining
  • Ability to clearly communicate complex concepts in both written and verbal form.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Publications in recognised AI/ML/NLP research venues.
  • Experience with Language Models, Transformers, or deep learning frameworks.

Contract Details:

  • PAYE Contract
  • Full Contract - 18 Months
  • Hybrid - 50% Onsite Time
