Systems Accountant
Role:

As Systems Accountant, you will play a pivotal role in the successful delivery of the Sage X3 upgrade project. Acting as the bridge between Finance, IT, Transformation, Operational teams and external consultants, you'll ensure the system is configured to meet the group's operational and reporting needs, while driving process improvements and user adoption across multiple entities.
The role holder will be responsible for migrating all existing Group companies and any future acquisitions onto X3 and then be responsible for continuous improvement, upgrades and enhancements.
Key Duties:
ERP Upgrade & Implementation
- Lead the finance workstream of the Sage X3 upgrade project across the group
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external Sage X3 consultants to define system requirements
- Support data migration, validation, and reconciliation activities
- Assist in designing and testing financial modules, workflows, and reporting structures
- Develop and deliver training materials for finance users across the group
Systems & Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities to streamline finance processes using Sage X3 functionality
- Configure and optimize chart of accounts, cost centres, and intercompany transactions
- Implement controls and automation to improve accuracy and efficiency
- Document system processes, procedures, and user guides
Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Ensure Sage X3 supports accurate and timely group-level reporting
- Working closely with the BI Team to provide Subject Matter Expertise on the development and maintenance of all financial data and reports across Group Finance functions.
- Support month-end and year-end close processes from a systems perspective
- Liaise with auditors to ensure compliance and data integrity
Governance & Compliance
- Ensure the upgraded system complies with internal policies and external regulations (e.g., VAT, IFRS, GDPR)
- Establish and monitor system access controls and user permissions
- Conduct periodic audits of system usage and data integrity
Project Management & Reporting
- Collaborate with the Project Manager as Finance SME, to monitor and manage project milestones, budgets, and deliverables associated with the Sage X3 upgrade.
- Work with Project Manager to prepare regular status reports for senior leadership and stakeholders
- Work with the Testing Team to coordinate all Finance-related User Acceptance Testing (UAT), managing and overseeing issue resolution.
Continuous Improvement & Innovation
- Stay informed on Sage X3 updates, new modules, and best practices
- Propose enhancements or add-ons that could improve reporting, automation, or scalability
- Contribute as the Finance SME, on post-implementation reviews and drive continuous system and process optimisation
Training & Support
- Develop a support framework for finance users post-implementation
- Provide ongoing training and refresher sessions for new features or processes
- Act as a super-user and first point of contact for system-related queries
Experience Required:
- Deep understanding of financial software and accounting principles, processes and controls (GL, AP, AR, fixed assets, balance sheet controls).
- Knowledge of Sage X3 Accountancy software would be beneficial, but not required
- Part or fully Qualified Accountant ACA/ ACCA/ CIMA or qualified by experience
- Strong understanding of financial processes, reporting, and controls
- Experience working in a multi-entity or group structure
- Knowledge of project management methodologies
- Proven experience as a Systems Accountant or similar role
- Hands-on experience with Sage X3 (implementation or upgrade projects preferred)
