Desktop Support Engineer

Desktop Support Engineer | £25,000 | Hybrid

An established technology team is looking for a proactive IT Support Engineer to provide first and second line support across two primary sites, with additional responsibility for several remote locations. This is a hands-on role supporting day-to-day operations, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring an excellent service experience for internal users.

What you'll be doing:

  • Managing daily support and administration across Active Directory, Exchange, and Microsoft 365—including onboarding and offboarding tasks.
  • Supporting local network issues such as connectivity troubleshooting and cable patching.
  • Building and configuring PCs and laptops, including deployments via SCCM.
  • Providing general end-user support across devices, accounts, and applications.
  • Assisting with ongoing team projects, including Windows upgrades and hardware refresh cycles.
  • Ensuring all IT changes follow established change-control procedures.
  • Coordinating with shared services teams on central systems issues and the setup of new devices and infrastructure.
  • Managing mobile devices through Intune, including provisioning, account management, and hardware tracking.
  • Monitoring the helpdesk queue and resolving incidents and requests promptly, ensuring ad-hoc tasks are recorded appropriately.
  • Actioning security-related requests from the cybersecurity team to maintain strict compliance standards.
  • Delivering clear and consistent communication to manage stakeholder expectations effectively.
  • Supporting network troubleshooting and application patching/deployment across all sites.

What you'll bring:

  • Ability to develop, follow, and champion best practice, processes, and policies.
  • Strong customer-service mindset with clear communication skills.
  • Experience with Windows Operating Systems and MS Office applications.
  • Working knowledge of Exchange administration.
  • General networking knowledge (LAN, connectivity, patching).
  • Familiarity with desktop hardware and device lifecycle management.
  • Understanding of core security principles and methodologies.
