Field Application Engineer (FAE)

Annual salary: £40,000 to £60,000, depending on experience.

Work location: Adastal Park, Ipswich

The Role

Our client is a global provider of broadband and wireless communication solutions. They are looking for a Field Application Engineer to support their UK customers and ensure the successful deployment of their networking devices. In this role, you will work closely with international R&D teams and Telecom Operators, providing technical expertise throughout the product lifecycle.

They are seeking a motivated Field Application Engineer to support customers across the UK, working with cutting-edge networking and broadband solutions developed by their global engineering teams.

You will:

  • Provide technical support and on-site assistance to customers and channel partners.
  • Act as the key technical liaison between customers, sales teams and R&D.
  • Deliver product demos, training and troubleshooting.
  • Support both pre-sales and post-sales activities, ensuring smooth deployment and high customer satisfaction.

About You

You are a customer-focused Engineer with strong technical capability and clear, confident communication skills. You enjoy solving complex issues, working independently, and supporting customers both remotely and on-site.

You Ideally Have:

  • A degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of networking, broadband, routers/gateways, and wireless technologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience in field support or customer-facing engineering roles (preferred).
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites when required.

Essential Requirements:

  • 3 – 5+ years of experience in the networking or broadband industry.
  • A solid understanding of software development and testing principles.
  • Hands-on experience with broadband networks.
  • Proficiency in Python, scripting, and Linux.

Nice To Have:

  • Experience with Wi-Fi, VoIP, or IoT technologies.
  • Familiarity with ACS/TR-069 and TR-181 testing and management in lab or production environments.
  • Experience with defect-tracking systems such as JIRA.
