Main duties of the job

- Responsible for the management of Digital annual business planning activities

- Responsible for the management of the Digital Capital Programme in support of the Chief Digital & Analytics Officer (Deputy CDIO) and Senior Leadership Team

- Lead the strategic management of DTI service SLAs and supplier contracts

- Support the DTI Senior Leadership Team in the delivery of service efficiencies

- Responsible for the delegated service management of DTI procurement activities outside the scope of the central Procurement department

- To be the direct link between DTI and Procurement teams for the provision of procurement and commercial advice

- To be the direct link between DTI and Procurement teams to ensure that consistent professional procurement standards are adhered to

- Ensure effective Digital business and supplier management

- Provide assurance that the DTI aspects of procurement processes are compliant with Trust and regulatory standards

- Actively participate in digital on-call rotas

- Actively engage with internal stakeholders, external partners

- Maintain strong oversight and quality management of all supplier and commercial relationships

- Line manage and provide senior leadership to relevant teams

- Lead on NHS and independent benchmarking processes and undertake analysts to understand the opportunities, supporting in developing new strategies from this information

Job responsibilities

- Develop a personal development plan annually as part of the Personal Development Review process.

- Keep skills up to date and relevant in order to carry out appropriate tasks in the areas of Digital support activities.

- Use available resources (Intranet, internet, reading materials, conferences) to keep abreast of related developments and look for opportunities to use these developments

- Ensure continuation of personal development through appropriate formal training as and when necessary.

- Develop strong, collaborative relationships with DTI leadership, Procurement, Finance, HR, Estates and other departments.

- Build trust and credibility with external suppliers, third-party service providers, and digital system vendors.

- Confidently communicate complex digital and commercial issues to clinical and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring clarity and consensus.

- Work with the Finance Business Partner and Accounting team to oversee strategic management of DTI budgets, ensuring robust governance.

- Lead business planning and budget setting processes, aligned to departmental and Trust priorities.

- Monitor and report on financial improvement activities and cost-saving opportunities.

- Oversee the Digital capital programme, coordinating business cases, delivery timelines and programme adjustments as required.

Person Specification

Qualifications & Training

Essential
  • Degree or equivalent experience in an equivalent role
Desirable
  • Programme/Project Management (MSP/PRINCE2 or equivalent informal)

Experience

Essential
  • Experience of supplier and contract management in a multi-vendor environment
  • Experience of supporting the procurement aspects of large digital procurements, including contract negotiation
  • Experience of supporting the commercial aspects of business cases for Digital investment, annual business planning, budgetary management, capital management
  • Experience of successful team management
