FTC - IT Support Engineer

IT Support Engineer Location: Newton-le-Willows / WA11*Fixed Term Contract role - duration 3 months, potential to go permanent*Start date: ASAP Salary: Up to £45k (pro rata)Our client has an interim requirement for an IT Support Engineer to deliver high-quality 2nd and 3rd line technical support to users. This role combines hands-on infrastructure management with project-based work, ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is looking for a role to start asap.IT Support Engineer key responsibilities

• Provide responsive 2nd & 3rd line user support
• Install, configure, document, and deploy a wide range of hardware and systems
• Undertake technical projects to enhance IT infrastructure and service delivery
• Ensure compliance with IT policies including email, internet, device usage, and security
• Conduct server health checks, monitor backups, and manage access rights
• Maximise system performance and uptime through proactive and reactive support
• Produce clear, auditable documentation to support network and system integrity
• Administer Active Directory
• Support Microsoft server environments and Hyper-V infrastructure
• Identify and recommend improvements across systems and processes

IT Support Engineer profile

• Work independently and collaboratively within the IT team
• Communicate effectively across all levels via meetings and digital platforms
• Mentor and train users on IT systems, troubleshooting, and best practices
• Write technical documentation including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting guides
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Experience managing server and network environments
• Ability to take initiative and lead tasks without supervision
• Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to continuous personal development
