Title: Financial Controller

Location: London – 2–3 days WFH per week

Salary: £80,000 – £100,000 + bonus and wider benefits

Our client is a PE-backed, multinational software group headquartered in London. Operating within the SaaS/software space, the business has expanded rapidly through both organic growth and strategic acquisitions and is backed by a well-known private equity sponsor.

They are now seeking an experienced Financial Controller to take ownership of financial reporting, controls, and day-to-day finance operations during an exciting phase of growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the group’s financial control function, ensuring robust processes, controls, and reporting frameworks are in place.
  • Own the preparation and submission of R&D tax credit claims, working closely with external advisers and internal technical teams.
  • Oversee the preparation of monthly management accounts, group consolidations, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Ensure timely and accurate statutory reporting in line with UK GAAP / IFRS requirements.
  • Act as the key point of contact for external auditors, tax advisers, and other professional service providers.
  • Manage and review cash flow forecasting, working capital, and treasury activities.
  • Partner with senior stakeholders to provide financial insight, challenge assumptions, and support commercial decision-making.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and longer-term financial planning, aligned with PE value creation objectives.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across finance processes, systems, and controls, including automation and scalability.
  • Support M&A activity and post-acquisition integration from a finance and controls perspective.

Candidate Requirements:

  • ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified (or equivalent)
  • Experience within a SaaS, software, or technology-led business is highly desirable.
  • Prior experience in a PE-backed or high-growth environment preferred.
  • Proven experience owning or contributing to R&D tax credit claims.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge with excellent attention to detail.
  • Confident stakeholder manager, able to work closely with senior leadership and external partners.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience working with modern finance systems / ERPs
