Job Title: Infrastructure Engineer
Location: Kent / 1 day a week onsite a week
Salary: £60,000 - £64,000 + bonus DOE
Role Overview
We’re looking for a proactive and skilled IT Systems Engineer to help maintain and enhance a hybrid cloud infrastructure that supports a fast-paced and demanding business environment. This position requires strong technical capability, adaptability to changing technologies, and the confidence to take ownership of complex systems.
You’ll operate within the IT Operations function, delivering 3rd-line support across a wide range of infrastructure platforms, primarily supporting UK-based operations. The role is hands-on, involving troubleshooting, optimisation, and collaboration with internal teams and external partners to ensure secure, reliable, and scalable technology services. Experience working within financial services is advantageous.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain high service availability and assist during major incidents
- Resolve complex or high-impact technical issues, including occasional out-of-hours support
- Progress and resolve escalation tickets efficiently
- Provide technical expertise for internal and external project delivery
- Embed a security-first mindset in daily operations and solution design
- Deliver patching, vulnerability management, and general preventative maintenance
- Monitor and troubleshoot infrastructure systems
- Contribute to IT governance across processes, technology, and information security
- Support audit and compliance requirements, including PCI-DSS and Sarbanes-Oxley
- Work within ITIL processes including incident, problem, and change management
- Stay current with emerging technologies and infrastructure trends
Skills & Experience
Essential:
- Strong experience with Windows Server and Desktop environments
- PowerShell or similar scripting capability
- Citrix technologies (App Layering, DaaS, VDI, Netscaler Load Balancing)
- VMware stack (ESXi, vCenter, vSAN)
- Microsoft Exchange (2016/2019 hybrid) and Office 365
- Experience with Dell server and blade hardware (OME, iDRAC)
- SAN storage experience (NetApp or equivalent)
- Backup administration
- Active Directory administration (GPO, DNS, DHCP, hardening) and Azure Entra ID
- Windows/SQL clustering with exposure to Always On
- Strong documentation and communication skills
- Solid understanding of ITIL service management principles
Desirable:
- Veeam backup technologies
- Hyper-converged infrastructure (e.g., VxRail, NSX, Aria Operations for Networks/Logs)
- Azure administration (compute, storage, networking, Intune)
- Linux administration
- Monitoring tools such as PRTG
- Ivanti patching and deployment
Preferred Certifications:
MCSE, VCP, ITIL
