Role Purpose

The Scrum Master is a servant leader and coach for one or more Agile teams working predominantly on ELI. You will facilitate team events, remove impediments, optimise flow, and foster a culture of relentless improvement and built-in quality. In the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), you will also support the team’s alignment to Agile Release Train (ART) objectives, collaborating closely with Product, Technical, and Business Owners, and stakeholders.

The Role

As a Scrum Master you will:

  • Facilitate Scrum events (Daily Scrum, Iteration Planning, Backlog Refinement, Review, Retrospective) and ensure they are outcome-focused.
  • Coach the team on Agile and SAFe practices, Lean-Agile mindset, and team norms; model servant leadership.
  • Support effective sprint planning: readiness, team capacity planning, risk management (ROAM), and drafting team objectives.
  • Enable flow using Kanban/Scrum, visualize work, manage WIP, and apply flow metrics (e.g., cycle time, throughput, aging).
  • Identify, remove, and/or escalate impediments quickly; partner with Product and Technical owners and other Scrum Masters to resolve cross-team blockers.
  • Foster built-in quality (Definition of Ready/Done, test automation, CI/CD, pairing/mobbing, code review, and quality gates).
  • Partner with the Product Owner on backlog health: refinement cadence, clarity of acceptance criteria, and readiness for planning.
  • Drive relentless improvement via retrospectives, experiments, Kaizen, and Inspect & Adapt (I&A) workshops.
  • Support dependency management and synchronization across teams (Scrum of Scrums/ART Sync).
  • Promote data-informed delivery using objectives, forecasts, and predictability measures; improve reliability of commitments.
  • Champion psychological safety, inclusion, and high-collaboration ways of working.

Skills & Experience

  • 2–5+ years’ experience as a Scrum Master or Agile Coach; experience within SAFe/ARTs strongly preferred.
  • Proven facilitation of Planning, Scrum of Scrums/ART Sync, and Inspect & Adapt.
  • Hands-on with Agile tooling (Jira), dashboards, and flow/predictability metrics.
  • Strong coaching, mentoring, and conflict resolution skills; able to influence without authority.
  • Excellent communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders; crisp written documentation.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience supporting software engineering and application support teams in a production environment.
  • Knowledge of incident & problem management.
  • Experience of managing backlogs and sprints within Azure Dev Ops.
  • Agile community of practice leadership.
