Sales Manager (Player Manager) – Managed IT Services, Cloud & Digital Infrastructure

Hybrid – Essex (Basildon HQ) | 3 days/week in office + client visits across the South East

Compensation: £65–85k base (DOE) + uncapped commission (OTE £100k+) + full benefits package

The Role

This is a newly created position offering huge scope and autonomy. Working directly with the Sales Director, you’ll help shape and lead a high-performing sales function while managing key accounts and driving new business opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and formalise a scalable sales structure including KPIs, processes, and commission frameworks.
  • Manage, mentor, and develop a growing team of Sales Executives (currently four, expanding to seven).
  • Lead strategic account management across some of the company’s largest clients, identifying upsell and cross-sell opportunities.
  • Drive new business growth through proactive engagement, networking, and pipeline management.
  • Collaborate with internal technical teams to design and present tailored IT and cloud solutions.
  • Play a key role in business development strategy, sales forecasting, and performance reporting.
  • Attend client meetings across the South East and be an active presence in the Basildon office (3 days per week).

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience in IT sales within a Managed Service Provider (MSP), Value-Added Reseller (VAR), or software/technology environment.
  • Strong leadership capabilities and the desire to build and shape a growing sales team.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to spot and act on commercial opportunities.
  • Excellent communication and client engagement skills – you enjoy being hands-on and visible within your team.
  • Experience developing sales processes and structures to drive sustained growth.
