Project Engineer - IT Specialist
ITN is seeking a project engineer to work in our award-winning Technology team at ITN. You will be process-driven and responsible for the delivery of project scoping, research, system designs, implementation, documentation and successful handovers of any projects allocated to you or the wider team.
You will also be expected to work with system suppliers to ensure that our systems are kept up-to-date and follow best practice guidelines. This will include responsibility for planning any necessary updates and defining the test procedures used to ensure that critical functionality will be maintained during the course of any planned work.
The IT infrastructure underpins the whole business from core corporate services including email and internet access, to the Avid systems and broadcast equipment that delivers our programme output. Ensuring its stability and performance is critical and, as we continue to move into a more IP dominated world, the importance of the underlying networks and technology that delivers the connectivity is ever increasing.
Whilst mainly office based, there will be requirements to work offsite and/or outside of business hours, at short notice on deployment projects and for larger special events, as the business agenda dictates.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the expectations and understand the needs of multiple stakeholders
- Facilitate the negotiation of requirements amongst multiple stakeholders, ensuring their views are heard and included in the scoping process
- Aid in advanced troubleshooting and diagnosis of broadcast and corporate systems
- Install and configure a variety of IT, Broadcast, Network, IPTV, and telephony related systems
- Define test procedures to ensure that systems function as expected and in-line with project deliverables
- Ensure all relevant documentation is kept up-to-date, including user and equipment lists.
- Provide on-site assistance at special events
- Carry out hardware tasks such as installing servers, replacing components, and racking or cabling equipment as required

Key Requirements:
- Experience gathering requirements from clients/business and documenting them
- Excellent problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to organise and manage personal workload
- Strongly process-driven approach to work, with an ability to embed and follow structured processes in technology delivery
- Ability to identify system changes and verify that technical system specifications meet business requirements
- Experience working in a mid-sized or large organisation, with exposure to the challenges of supporting large estates and multiple teams
- Strong experience supporting and managing Apple devices, particularly MacOS and iOS/iPadOS devices, including deployment, security, and integration into enterprise environments
- Experience with Mobile Device Management (MDM) platforms. Microsoft Intune is preferred, but experience with comparable solutions (e.g. JAMF, AirWatch, MobileIron) is also valuable
- Good knowledge of IP with solid understanding of network hardware and topologies including switches, routers, copper, and fibre connections
- In-depth understanding of Active Directory, ADFS, Group Policies, and other Microsoft infrastructure services such as DNS, DHCP, and Windows Failover Clustering
- Good understanding of Cloud technologies such as Azure and AWS
- Experience managing SQL Server environments, including basic troubleshooting and administration
- Experience building and installing Linux and Windows servers along with necessary administration and configuration skills
- Hands-on experience working with IT hardware including servers and components
- Experience with virtualisation platforms and technologies (e.g. Hyper-V, Nutanix, VMware), with the ability to design and deploy virtualisation clusters
Desirable Skills:
- Good understanding of the full project lifecycle: initiation, planning, management, and closure including handover to Support and Operational teams
- Understanding of ServiceNow (preferably certified Systems Administrator)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong working relationships
- Appreciation of changing technology and practices across the industry.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office products
