Workday Systems Accountant
Contract Length: 6 months
Rate: Up to £500 per day
Location: London (Hybrid – 2 days per week onsite)
A Key Client of ours is seeking an experienced Workday Systems Accountant to support and enhance its Workday Financials environment during a critical phase of growth and optimisation.
This contract role sits within the Finance Systems team and works closely with the ERP Lead, Finance, and wider business stakeholders. You will act as a key point of contact for Workday Financials support, system improvements, and release management across a global user base.
Key Responsibilities
Workday Financials Support
- Act as the primary escalation point for all Workday Financials support tickets, ensuring timely resolution of system issues and user queries
- Provide day-to-day functional support across core Workday Financials modules (e.g. GL, AP, AR, Assets, Banking, Expenses)
- Troubleshoot system issues, perform root-cause analysis, and coordinate fixes with internal teams or Workday partners where required
System Maintenance & Optimisation
- Partner with the ERP Lead to ensure Workday Financials is effectively maintained, configured, and aligned with finance and accounting requirements
- Identify opportunities for system optimisation, process improvement, and automation
- Support enhancement initiatives, configuration changes, and minor projects as they arise
Release & Change Management
- Support bi-annual Workday releases, including impact assessments, testing, deployment, and user communications
- Coordinate UAT with finance stakeholders and ensure business readiness for new functionality
- Maintain system documentation, controls, and change logs
Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as a bridge between Finance, IT, and external vendors to ensure effective system usage
- Support global users with training, guidance, and best-practice usage of Workday Financials
- Assist with audit requests, controls documentation, and compliance-related queries
About You
Essential Experience
- Background in Accounting or Finance, ideally part-qualified (ACCA / CIMA / ACA) or equivalent experience
- Minimum 2+ years’ experience supporting Workday Financials in a global or multi-entity environment
- Strong understanding of finance processes and how they translate into ERP systems
- Proven experience working with support ticketing systems and prioritising workloads effectively
Technical & Functional Skills
- Hands-on experience with Workday Financials configuration and functional support
- Strong understanding of financial controls, month-end processes, and accounting workflows
- Comfortable working with system testing, release management, and documentation
- Experience supporting users across multiple regions and time zones

- Able to work independently in a fast-paced, PE-backed environment
