Group Financial Controller

- Led by senior execs who have exited for 9 figures previously in adjacent markets
- Receiving the ongoing support of private equity/high-net-worth individuals - this is a company fast tracked towards a defined growth journey and with frequent M&A around the country
- Based in the North West, with the Head Office in South Manchester, the group consists of 5 subsidiary companies including 3 trading companies and with headcount of c60. Expecting to be c90 by year-end
Role
- This is a new role created to augment the newly created central finance function, which is lead by a CFO (to whom this role will report directly) who has previously been instrumental in the high-growth of a similar business held up as market standard in the industry.
- The Group Finance Controller is a key finance leadership role responsible for ensuring the delivery of accurate, timely, and insightful financial information to support strategic decision-making and drive performance across the Group.
- The role plays a critical part in supporting the company’s ambitious growth plans, including organic expansion and an active M&A strategy.

Responsibilities
- Financial Management & Reporting
- Day to day responsibility for smooth running of the Finance department across the Group.
- Responsible for the consolidated group financial statements in line with UK GAAP.
- Provide commentary and analysis with the monthly management accounts for the Group.
- Integration planning to facilitate consistent Group reporting.
- Business partnering with relevant managers within the company to provide financial support and analysis.
- Improve and develop financial processes, information and value-add across the business.
- Providing information and services to the board as required.
- Make strategy recommendations based on financials.
- Cashflow Management & Reporting
- Maintain and enhance group-wide cashflow forecasting to ensure accurate and timely visibility of liquidity.
- Monitor and manage short-term and long-term cashflow and covenant requirements, providing early warnings of potential challenges.
- Optimise working capital management across the Group in line with covenants in place, including management of debtors, creditors and WIP.
- Prepare cashflow reports, highlighting variances, trends and actionable insights.
- Active treasury management to optimise the cash balances within the Group.
- Budgeting and Forecasting
- Co-ordinate the preparation of the annual Group budgets, working with other members of the SLT team.
- Partner with members of the SLT team to align financial objectives with operational goals.
- Prepare rolling 3-month forecasts and reforecasts of budget where required.
- Financial Control
- Ensure effective internal controls are maintained and enhanced as the group expands.
- Monthly balance sheet and intercompany reconciliations.
- Identify and realise synergies within the acquired businesses.
- Manage statutory compliance, including audits, tax filings and any regulatory reporting.
- Recommend methods and strategies for cost control.
- Payroll
- Oversight on payroll processes across the group, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor and develop a high-performing Finance team across the Group.
- Provide development opportunities to enhance skills and capabilities within the team to support succession planning.
Requirements
- 5 years prior experience of Finance Management, preferably within a Group structure.
- ACCA/CIMA/ACA qualified.
- Advanced Excel and data analysis skills.
- High level of accuracy and attention to financial data.
- Ability to identify financial risks and implement solutions.
- Works effectively under pressure, especially in fast-paced or acquisitive environments.
- Ability to manage and mentor finance teams across multiple locations.
- Experience in handling financial transformation and process optimisations.
- Strong communication skills to interact with all levels of the business.

- £55-80k salary, dependent on experience, plus a discretionary bonus.
