Interim Financial Controller (6-month contract, potential to perm) – £100k FTC

Location: UK (hybrid)

Duration: Minimum 6 months, with potential extension / permanent transition

Reporting to: CFO

Start: ASAP (2 weeks notice max, ideally immediately available)

About the business

A well-established, international software company undergoing a period of continued growth is looking to strengthen its finance leadership. The business operates a subscription-led model, works with a global customer base and is backed by an institutional investor. With increasing scale and complexity, the finance team is now seeking an interim controller to reinforce controls, enhance reporting and support the next stage of its development. This individual must be hands on and have experience with NetSuite.

Key responsibilities

You will take ownership of the following:

• Maintaining and improving internal financial controls across the business, ensuring compliance and robustness.
• Driving accurate and timely financial and management reporting (including monthly, quarterly reviews) to support the senior leadership team and investor stakeholders.
• Overseeing tax matters (corporation tax, R&D credits, indirect tax as applicable), ensuring obligations are met and tax opportunities are maximised.
• Leading the monthly consolidation process, coordinating with group and subsidiary entities, ensuring the month-end close is efficient and delivers actionable insight.
• Managing treasury activities: cash forecasting, liquidity management, banking relationships, FX exposure (if applicable) and working capital oversight.
• Utilising and optimising the ERP / financial systems environment – specifically the business uses NetSuite, so hands-on experience with NetSuite is critical.
• Working closely with the CFO/Finance Director and investor stakeholders (PE firm) to support the finance operating model and prepare the business for its next growth phase.

Candidate profile

We are looking for a professional with:

• Proven experience as a Financial Controller (or Senior Finance Manager stepping into control) in a software / SaaS business or high-growth technology environment, ideally in a PE-backed context.
• Strong track record of embedding controls, improving reporting, consolidation and treasury management.
• Hands-on expertise within NetSuite (or closely comparable ERP) including system configuration, reporting and optimisation.
• Solid tax knowledge (corporation tax, R&D, indirect tax) and experience working with external advisors / internal tax function.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills: ability to engage with senior management and investor partners, translate financial metrics into actionable insight and drive decisions with confidence.
• Comfortable working in an agile, dynamic environment; high-drive, self-starter mindset; able to hit the ground running given the interim nature of the role.
