Infrastructure Engineer

Basildon minimum once per week / out-of-hours standby
Light shift rota covering 8am6pm
Permanent, full-time Salary up to £55,000 + bonus and benefits

Were recruiting for an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to join a technology-driven organisation where service resilience and infrastructure modernisation are critical. This is a hands-on role across on-prem, virtualised and cloud environments, with a strong focus on stability, security, and acquisition-driven integration.

With a major on-prem to cloud transformation planned for 2026, this a great opportunity for someone with strong on-prem skills to upskill into Azure and cloud delivery over time. Youll still need solid on-prem capability in the interim, and some on-prem services will remain post-migration.

Key focus

• Hyper-V virtualisation (clusters/failover, estate improvement)
• Rubrik backup & recovery (highly desirable)
• Windows servers + enterprise storage (SAN/NAS, iSCSI/Fibre Channel)
• Firewall / network security hands-on experience
• Acquisition migrations tenant/user/workload integrations into a core environment
• Exposure to, or ambition for, cloud transformation (Azure)

What youll do

• Design, deploy and support Windows on-prem, Hyper-V and Azure infrastructure
• Own patching, performance, capacity and lifecycle management
• Implement security controls and support compliance
• Lead infrastructure projects end-to-end
• Act as senior escalation for complex incidents
• Maintain accurate, audit-ready documentation
• Contribute to the 2026 cloud migration and automation improvements (Terraform)

What were looking for

Essential:

• Proven Hyper-V, Windows Server (), servers & storage experience
• Strong AD/DNS/DHCP/failover clustering knowledge
• Rubrik backup experience preferred
• Firewall and core networking fundamentals (VLAN, CIDR, VRRP, etc.)
• Great documentation skills and change control/CAB experience
• Confident communicator, able to manage priorities and own delivery

Desirable:

• Azure admin experience or clear desire to upskill into cloud
• Tenant-to-tenant / acquisition integration experience
• Terraform/IaC exposure
• Relevant certs (CCNA/MCSA/AZ-series)
